I have to write some sort of post about my favorite spring show, Game of Thrones.
We’re currently in season 5, and by my estimates that’s pretty much at the halfway point of the series. I have only read the first two books, and have no idea what could potentially happen during the next four episode before the season ends, but I know it’s going to be really intense.
The series so far is setting up for a large battle at pretty much every edge of the known world. Let’s go through them one by one:
1) The North
It’s likely that we’re going to see the battle between Stannis the Mannis and Roose Bolton and his crazy maniac son Ramsey. They left the wall last week, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this will be wrapped up by the end of the season, especially since this fight is all anyone has been talking about. Littlefinger is as usual betting on all sides to ensure that he wins, and Sansa is trying to play a slap cup with tequila in this whole marriage situation with Ramsey (in other words, she’s way over her head). As of right now, there is no good news for Sansa; I really don’t think she’ll be able to figure out Ramsey and play him like Littlefinger told her she could. If only Theon/Reek could grow a pair and slit Ramsey’s throat during a shave, we’d all be saved a lot of pain and suffering. Now let’s move on.
2) King’s Landing
Surprise, more shit is hitting the fan (pardon my language). The “Faith”, aka crazy religious fanatics that frighten people in believing in their gods, imprisoned Loras Tyrell a few weeks ago for his “fornication with men”. Since Cersei is in charge, she has wreaked havoc trying to undermine everyone and get power back to her. That prophecy she was told at the beginning of the first episode is extremely important to her. Sometimes when you try to change the future to avoid something, you end up causing the thing you were trying to avoid. Not only did the Faith imprison Loras, but also Margaery (the Queen!) for seeing the fornication take place. Tommen probably isn’t going to get any for a while, since he just sat there and let them take her away. Way to go kid. Something will happen here before the season is up, because I doubt that they’ll leave Margaery locked up until season 6. The Faith might run wild and break from the careful and instructed watch of Cersei sometime before the season ends.
On their lovely walk to Mereen, Jorah and Tyrion just got captured by slavers. Tyrion being the quick thinking survivalist that he is, convinced the slavers (with the help of Jorah) to take them to Mereen and have Jorah fight in the pits to win them money, and lots and lots of gold. There will be fighting in Mereen, and a royal wedding, as Dany has decided to marry Hizdar Zo Loraq in order to get closer to the people. This plot line just pointed us straight to the fact that Jorah is going to fight in the pits, Dany is going to watch, and they’re going to be reunited somehow. Hopefully before Jorah gets too far along with his greyscale.
There’s of course more going on, like with the whole Arya becoming “no-one” story-line, and Jon Snow traveling North of the Wall to make peace with the Wildlings and bring them back south.
I’m excited to see where this season goes, and comments are more than welcome.
